According to the latest poll it is all to play for in the forthcoming General Election, and it may not be all as straightforward as the Tories believe.
Today’s poll in the Independent and surveyed by ComRes are once again below the 40% mark, and at this stage in the campaign – they should be much further ahead in the polls. In other words it could be all to play for, and the battles on.
The ComRes survey makes grim reading for Labour; it places them neck and neck with the Liberal Democrats.
ComRes found that if there were a General Election tomorrow Conservatives would finish on 38% (down 2); Labour 23% (down 1); and the Liberal Democrats 23% (up 2, now level with Labour).
This is now the fourth poll within a matter of days all of which give very much similar results; they are showing a post conference boost for the Liberal Democrats, and also giving credence to the claim of Nick Clegg that they can now challenge Labour and move them into third place.
