As the dust settles on yesterday’s events centred around the M6 through our area and the attitude of the Highways Agency to residents concerns as previously reported on these pages, the following points emerged out of various meetings reports Liberal Democrat councillor Ian Shires:-
- Assurances have been given that residents affected by the Traffic Management Project will be kept informed of any works which directly impact on them.
- Fence panels which were removed from the back of the hard shoulder to the north of the Lichfield Road are to be reinstated. It transpires that these panels should not have been removed in the first place!
- The Highways Agency through its contractor will be contacting residents to apologies for their failure to communicate effectively to date.
“I’d like to think that these assurances will be upheld but given the Highways Agency’s record to date I’m sure I will be forgiven for being less than optimistic” said Liberal Democrat councillor Ian Shires, “only time will tell. At least they’ved admitted their failings to date.”
In the meantime your Liberal Democrat councillors are to call for the M6 Fiasco to be investigated through the council’s scrutiny process. We’ll keep you in touch with developments.
