Speaking to businesses in Shipley, West Yorkshire the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills Vince Cable said that the government had to focus not just on cutting expenditure but also on growth.
Vince Cable promised that the government would “get out of the way” of businesses and called on the private sector to help the economy grow.
“The way we are going to deal with growth is through the private sector because when the government is having to tighten up with its budget growth is going to come through private enterprise, its going to come through entrepreneurs…. we know the potential is there”
“We have been through a post-industrial revolution to a service-based economy, and it was private enterprise that drove that. It is now going to drive a new rebalancing of the British economy both in terms of regions and sectors.”
