Willenhall North Liberal Democrat councillors have joined with colleagues from Short Heath to organised a site visit with Walsall Council Highways officers in a bid to improve road safety at Knightsbridge in Coppice Lane, Willenhall reports Liberal Democrat councillor Ian Shires.
Councillors called for the site visit following continuous concerns by local residents and motorists alike. The approaches to the bridge over the canal is “blind ” in both directions.
To add to the dangers there are junctions with residential roads Howe Crescent and Knightsbridge Lane in close proximity to the bridge as well as a pedestrian crossing on the approach from Coppice Lane.
Pedestrians had also complained about the lack of maintenance to the hawthorne hedge which was partially blocking the footpath over the bridge. Enquiries by councillors have found that the regular maintence to the hedge had “fallen off the radar” following a recent reorganisation of Street Pride. Officers have taken action to rectify this problem.
