Spindle Tree Rise-Lib Dems Demand Enforcement Action!

Willenhall Liberal Democrats are demanding that a request for enforcement action goes to Walsall Council’s Planning Committee over a long standing problem at Spindle Tree Rise where residents have been stuck between a rock and a hard place as Walsall Council battles it out with Harron Homes in a bid to get the develper top surface put on their road and footpaths.

This fight has been going on since the development completed some five years or so ago following the demolition of the old children’s home which was to make way for a new purpose built children’s home along with a development of family houses. Harron Homes have promised faithfully time after time that the road and footpaths would be finished.

Earlier this year they said that they had gone out to tender and they expected that the work would be done in the very near future.

There have been visits to the site, discussions with Walsall Council yet still the road and footpaths remain unfinished.

When the land was sold off for develoment there was a clear commitment within the development brief that a new children’s home would be built within the development and an access road onto Stroud Avenue was a part of that commitment.

It’s not as though we were talking about a massive stretch of road; it’s just a small close so it’s not as if we are talking megga bucks here, and the longer it’s put off the more it will cost.

If Harron Homes won’t complete their commitment to the residents and Walsall Council then the the council should take enforcement action.
