You wouldn’t credit it would you? whilst in opposition the Labour Group on Walsall Council was highly critical of a number of initiatives instigated by the Lib Dem/Tory Coalition administration.
Just over a month into the new Labour administration and we see Labour cabinet members in the local press saying how “delighted” they are at the progress of those initiatives they were so critical of; issues such as:
Now they are in power they can’t wait to take the credit for the work oof others.
At the same time they are staying silent about the proposals of the Labour Crime Commissioner to close a number of Police Stations across Walsall and the Black Country the one in Willenhall being one of those singled out for closure.
The new Labour administration is also making noises about stopping the Council Tax Support Grant, something that Liberal Democrats in the Coalition administration had fought to keep.
If Labour carry out this threat then some of the most disadvantaged children in the borough will be plunged into poverty. What kind of Labour Party is this?

It is a labour party that has taken lessons from the Clegg school of politics and principles.
I’m not Nick Clegg and this Blog is about what is going on in Walsall. You are entitled to your opinions and from what you say it would appear that you agree with me that Labour have fully embraced the trappings of power…….
I agree with you both. However, I also observe a reduction in councillor allowances at the top level which sets a very good example of all in it together. If the emplyees cannot have an increase then councillors should not have had one either. The previous administration bleeted about how little they were paid. The word for that is ‘tough’. That is how it is for most of us.
It was the Tories who bleated on about how little they were paid not the Lib Dems you may recall.
