Phil Bennion Lib Dem West Midlands MEP visited Short Heath at the weekend to see for himself the issues being faced by residents of Stonepark and Trentpark concerned about contaminated land.

Phil met with Jan Howe, the Chair of the action group STAG, to hear first hand the views of local residents and to investigate if there is anything in EU directives which may help speed up a positive solution. “I can’t promise anything” said Phil “but I will see if there is anything that can be done from an EU perspective which may help the residents in their fight for justice.”

Phil was accompanied by Lib Dem cllr Ian Shires who added that Short Heath Lib Dem cllrs Doreen Shires, Dan Barker and John Cook would help residents get those responsible to clean up the land so that they can get on with their lives.
