It is still proving difficult for the planners to bring together all the facts that we have asked for in respect of the application off St Mary & St Michael Medical Company centred on Meadow House, Short Heath.
It is very unlikely that the application will be ready to go to the November Planning Committee at Walsall Council House as initial enquiries indicate that it could constitute a “change of use”.
If that is the case then local residents would need to be consulted and given a further 21 days to respond with any objections. We will let residents know as soon as we know if this is actually the case.
In the meantime your Lib Dem Focus Team Councillors have pointed to the fact that a consultation exercise was conducted by Walsall Council back in June 2011 on a Development Brief around marketing the site to provide up to 19 properties consisting of 2-bed bungalows and 2-3 bed starter homes.
This was the last that residents heard off Walsall Council in respect of this site, and seemed to have been born out when the “For Sale” sign went up indicating that it would be for residential properties. Hence the complete surprise to everyone concerned at the nature of this planning application.
