Breaking News – Planning application in for housing on the former Cavalcade pub site

by Ian Shires on 24 January, 2015

140216 CavalcadeJust heard last night that Walsall’s Planning Dept has received a planning application for 15 houses and 18 flats on the former Cavalcade PH site in Stroud Ave, Short Heath.

Have not had chance yet to see the details as the Council’s website is down for essential maintenance this weekend.

At least the application is not complex in that it is for residential use only so it could be good news for the local residents who have had to put up with looking at a complete eyesore since the pub close a few years back.

The Liberal Democrat Focus Team in the area, Cllr Dan Barker and Cllr Doreen Shires along with Liberal Democrat Group Leader Ian Shires have been campaigning in support of local residents to get this site back into use. There now remains the fight to clear up the other ex pub grot spot the former Brown Jug site in Sandbeds Rd and of course, Meadow House where we are still awaiting news of a planning application.

    A long time coming.

It’s only just been submitted so still has to be assessed by planners and consulted upon. Haven’t had chance to see plans yet myself as the council’s IT systems are down for maintenance over the weekend.
Hope it turns out OK as like you say it’s been a long time coming. Keep you posted.
