A day in the life of a Lib Dem Councillor – Friday

by Ian Shires on 30 January, 2015

150127 Cannock RdLast night’s Social Care and Health Scrutiny Panel saw some really good debates in particular around the problems surrounding adaptations to what these days is called Social Housing and the recent pressures on Walsall’s Manor Hospital. The latter linked into the information that came out of Wednesday’s Health and Wellbeing Development session on Integrated Services.

Over the weekend I will attempt to put together some feedback in order that you can see that things are beginning to change for the better as the work being done through the Health and Wellbeing Board over the past couple of years coupled with the Better care Fund initiative sees closure cooperation and integration across the Council, Community Care and Hospital’s.

This morning I will be catching up on my day job in financial services then it’s down to the Council House in Walsall to work on the Liberal Democrat Budget proposals and catch up on the casework both new and ongoing.

This evening there is our Advice Surgery at Oakwood Lodge then on to plan the weekend.

I have tried over this past week to give you an idea of the diverse work we as Liberal Democrat councillors get involved in in a typical week. If you like what we do and would perhaps like to get involved with us in working for the local community let me know. It could change your life. I know it changed mine.
