Parking Orders Advertised – your chance to have your say

ParkingWalsall Council has responded to a number requests for action to resolve parking problems across the Borough some of which have been as a result of campaigns by the Liberal Democrat Focus Teams across Willenhall. Below we have posted extracts from the report.

These proposals have been formally advertised from Friday 15 May, with a 3 week consultation period.

Formal objections to the Order should be sent with the grounds for making them in writing (quoting ref:PBW/JB/2265/3647) to the Head of  Democratic Services, The Council House, Walsall WS1 1TW by not later than 5 June, 2015.

Amendment Order No 19, May 2015

1.0 STATEMENT OF REASONS

1.1 A number of requests for amendments to and revocations of existing parking restrictions and
also for new parking restrictions in the Walsall Borough have been received. These have
been investigated and the resultant proposals are to be advertised as Amendment No. 19 to
the Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council (Consolidated) (Waiting, Loading, Stopping,
Disabled Parking & Residents Parking) Order July 2011.
The grounds for the proposals include:
• For avoiding danger to persons or other traffic using the road to which the order relates or
any other road;
• For facilitating the free passage of vehicular traffic;
• To comply with the requirements of the Traffic Management Act 2004 that requires
highway authorities to seek to ensure the expeditious movement of traffic; and
• To allow the Council to implement schemes identified through its capital spending
programme.

14.0 DETAILS OF PROPOSALS IN WILLENHALL

14.1 Barcroft / Elm Street
The proposal is to improve safety and help encourage sustainable travel in conjunction with
the Council’s A*Stars programme that has been developed to achieve the following:
Increase the number of pupils using all forms of safe sustainable travel on the journey to and
from schools / colleges
Provide a safer, cleaner environment in the vicinity of schools / colleges for the benefit of the
whole community
Increase knowledge and understanding of road safety, sustainable travel and healthy
lifestyles by providing education, training and encouragement
The proposed restrictions have been requested by the school as part of their annual action
plan within the A*Stars programme.

14.2 Blenheim Road / Ludlow Close / The Hayes (AM19 Blenheim)
This proposal is to introduce double yellow lines (no waiting at any time) around the junctions
of the above named roads. The proposal aims to regulate on street parking, improve visibility
on egress and facilitate the free passage of traffic.

14.3 Cannock Road
This proposal is to amend the existing Traffic Regulation Order to change the effective time of
the existing school keep clear marking on Cannock Road from no stopping Monday to Friday
8am-9.30am and 2.30pm – 4pm to a no stopping restriction at any time.

14.4 Froysell Street (AM19 Froysell)
The proposal is to introduce a short section of double yellow lines (no waiting at any time) in
order to facilitate movement in and out of adjacent industrial premises.

14.5 School Street (AM19 School)
This proposal is to introduce sections of double yellow lines (no waiting at any time) to
regulate on-street parking, improve visibility and facilitate the free passage of traffic. It will
also address problems with footway parking and assist refuse vehicles in servicing Bloor Mill
Close. The proposal also makes provision for the existing prohibition of loading on Somerford
Place (Monday to Friday 8am – 9.30am and 4pm – 6.30pm) to be extended into School
Street.

14.6 Walsall Road / Albion Street / Acorn Street / Fisher Street / Fletchers Lane / Gough
Street (AM19 Walsall Road)
This proposal is to amend the existing parking restrictions on the above named roads to
regulate on-street parking, improve visibility and facilitate the free passage of traffic.

For your information these proposals will be formally advertised from Friday 15 May, with a 3 week consultation period.
