Fly tipping is a crime. It’s cost you as a Walsall tax payer around £300.000 or more in the past year!

by Ian Shires on 8 March, 2016

I see that the rubbish fairies have been busy once again in New Invention. This time they’ve made their presence known by depositing furniture on the Community Green!

Well I hope whoever it was feels ashamed of themselves because they have just added to the £300,000 or there about that the Council has needlessly had to shell out to clean up after them. That’s £300,000 that we have all had to provide in the form of taxes that should have been spent on something useful like adult social care, children’s services.

Their thoughtlessness might have meant the difference between life and death for someone. No we’re not being melodramatic. No we’re not exaggerating. Money is tight. Last Thursday Liberal Democrat Councillors spent around five hours fighting to save amongst other things seven local Libraries including the one in New Invention! That £300,000 would have made it that little bit easier to achieve.

If anyone saw whoever committed this crime against our community, for crime is what it is, let us know. The only way this vandalism will stop is when someone is facing a heavy fine for their handy work. What really makes the blood boil is that whoever it was could have driven that bit further to the Civic Amenity site in Fryers Road, Bloxwich.

Willenhall Lib Dem Focus Team councillor Ian Shires has reported the crime to Walsall Council. Hopefully they will respond quickly and remove the offending objects.
