Consultation on new Pedestrian Crossing on busy road in Willenhall

by Ian Shires on 22 September, 2016

Image result for led zebra crossing flashing beaconConsultation has started on plans for a new high tech low cost LED pedestrian crossing in Wesley Road, Willenhall.

“If agreed the work on the new crossing will take place at the same time as the much needed resurfacing of Wesley Road” commented Willenhall North’s Lib Dem Cllr Ian Shires.

Providing there are no objections work on the new crossing and the resurfacing of Wesley Road should begin at the end of October or early in November.

The green light for the new crossing comes after a petition collected by the Methodists based in Wesley Road was presented to the Council earlier this year by Cllr Ian Shires. Wesley Road forms part of the busy A462 which links Willenhall through Short Heath and New Invention to J11 of the M6 and the Wesley Road stretch itself is narrow.

Currently there is nowhere for pedestrians to cross to use the Community facilities at the Methodist Church or bus users wanting to cross from the two bus stops. HGVs also use the route to get from Ashmore Lake Business Park to the motorway.
