The Council is proposing a high tech upgrade with the installation of new low energy beacons for the zebra crossing on Lucknow Road near to the junction with Martin Drive.

Many readers will recall that there has been a number of accidents and near accidents at the crossing in recent years.

The plan is to replace the existing flashing beacons with new style high tech  LED beacons. This is part of ongoing work across the borough. It is hoped that the new LED beacons will improve the visibility of the crossing for approaching motorists.

Funding for this work has been approved and work will begin at the earliest opportunity though the Council have said that they cannot provide an exact date when that might be due to  the manufacture/delivery of the equipment but would hope that it would be during the next 6-8 weeks.
