The saga of the missed brown bins

by Ian Shires on 6 April, 2017

Image result for garden waste collection walsallBrown bins collections restarted this week following the winter break and already had a number of calls from irate residents who have simply been left out.

On Monday for instance one side of Wood Lane in Short Heath was collect, the ten on the other side of the road were simply and literally left out in the cold.

To add insult to injury only those who complained have subsequently had their bins emptied the rest apparently being left a fortnight till the next collection in two weeks time.

One of the things that the council needs to improve on is handling complaints. Do it right and you win friends for life. Get it wrong and the opposite happens. Judging by the number of people who have contacted the Lib Dem Focus Team in Willenhall, it’s the latter experience that greeted residents who phoned up Clean and Green to find out why their brown bins had been left unemptied.

Willenhall North Liberal Democrat Cllr Ian Shires related residents experiences to officers who are now working on the best way to rescue the Saga of the Brown Bin collection.

My brown bin was not emptied on Monday(Coltham Road). I called and was informed the council would come on Wednesday (but only my bin as I had ‘logged’ a complaint.
I also asked them to revisit my father in laws on Wood Lane as his bin had also been missed.
The council did come on Wednesday but only emptied outs…clearly others were left!
Why if they were attending the street did they not empty all?
Most residents are elderly and it’s hard for them to move the bins let alone when they are still full!
    Not really good enough!
Council tax rises and services get less and haphazard.
Poor service. They surely can do better.

      Hi Dawn
There has been a mix up in some areas and the wrong leaflet was sent out informing you of the start of the collection of garden waste. Had meatings with Clean and Green last week and new letters have gone out with the correct details on. I will check on your address Monday but i know that Wood Lane residents should have by now received the correct collection information.
      Kind regards
      Ian
