Lib Dems welcome much needed improvements along busy commuter route

by Ian Shires on 5 April, 2017

Work will be starting this week on much needed maintenance along Coppice Lane and Lucknow Road from the Amery Island through to Spring Lane.

The work is being done in two phases. The first between the 6th April and the 11th April will see localised kerb repairs and carriageway patching carried out on worn out stretches of this busy route linking the north of Willenhall to its town centre.

There will be some disruption to the free flow of traffic and pedestrian movements due to the need for one – way traffic controlled by temporary lights. In fact on Sunday the 9th April the road will be closed to through traffic between the Amery Island and Mill Lane and diversions will be in place.

Phase two of the work will take place during May when the carriageway will be resurfaced with micro asphalt for the whole of its length from its junction with Cannock Road through to Spring Lane. At this time we do not know what traffic management arrangements will be in place whilst the second phase of the work is being carried out.

Welcoming the work Liberal Democrat Cllr Ian Shires said “This should bring to a conclusion a long period of disruption for residents in the area and for motorists following as it does work done on behalf of the Gas and Water Agencies”.

Work continues on Spring Lane where footpaths and kerbs have been renewed ahead of putting in the permanent traffic calming measures and resurfacing the whole carriageway.
