Some good news about roads in north Willenhall

by Ian Shires on 14 June, 2017

Some good news about roads in our area.

Work is about to start on resurfacing the A462 Essington Road from the Borough boundary  by the top of Sneyd Lane right down to The Gate Island at the junction with A4124 Lichfieid Road. The work is due to start on Monday 19th June 2017 and it is planned to be completed by Wednesday 5th July 2017. obviously this will depend on a number of factors not the least being the weather.

Residents living in the area affected will have received letters off the contractor, Tarmac explaining when the work will be carried out and the fact that the new surface will be quieter and produce less traffic spray in wet weather. Access for residents and businesses will be maintained at all times. Work on the road will take place between the hours of 8.00pm and 6.00am with the more disruptive and noisy work being confined to between 8.00pm and 12 midnight.

There will be a clearly signed diversion route and there will be no on street parking for the duration of the work.

This work comes hard on the heels of the resurfacing of Coppice Lane/ Lucknow Road, Mill Lane and Spring Lane all of which have been the subject of strong campaigning by Willenhall Lib Dems. We will continue to campaign to get Cannock Road and the stretch of Lichfield Road from The Gate Island to the borough boundary with Wolverhampton resurfaced.

Can you tell me why the work has suddenly stopped and a large chunk of the road remains with a temporary surface and raised ironworks, which is a potential danger in itself. One minute they where here doing the opposite ends and then gone in a puff of smoke with all of their machines leaving the middle with just the base coat.

    Bemused and confused

Sorry, only just picked this up, been run ragged by unauthorised encampments in and around our area. I know that there is some work to be carried out resurfacing into Beacon Road which needs to be connected into Essington Road so assume that this is the reason. I have asked the question of officers but misted a call back as I was in a meeting about travellers amongst other things. According to the Roadworks update there is a road closure scheduled for overnight on the 20th Beacon Road at junction with Essington Rd for resurfacing work to be done.

Any chance of being moderated so we can get an answer?
