Extra cash in school budgets in funding shake up

The government announced this week that they would be putting extra cash in school budgets in funding shake up. Sounds good doesn’t it? Like all things that sound to good to be true they usually are, and this is no exception.

 I’s true that schools in England will get an extra £1.3 billion over two years following concerns raised by campaigners over school funding. But guess what? The money is to be taken from elsewhere in the education budget. So it’s all smoke and mirrors. The government is sticking to its austerity measures. The cuts to our public services will go on well into the 2020’s.

We’ve just had a General Election and although the Tories lost their working majority, they have handed over £1 billion to their friends in the DUP of Northern Ireland and continued doing what Tories do best, slash and burn in the name of efficiency. There is a connection between where you put a X on the ballot paper and what sort of government you get…
