Resurfacing works High Rd/Sandbeds Road Planned for November

by Ian Shires on 28 October, 2017

Walsall Council is to carry out much needed carriageway resurfacing at High Road, Sandbeds Road, Bentley Lane and Ashmore Lake Way during November.

Related imageThat’s the response we have had following concerns about the state of the road after Severn Trent completed their renewal work in the area. Concerns have been expressed about the standard of some of the reinstatement work that has been carried out. Willenhall Liberal democrats have reported these concerns to the council’s Highways Officers.

The aim of the work planned for November is to strengthen the road construction and provide a new running surface along with all the associated road markings. The planned works will make use of modern surfacing materials, which will reduce noise and spray.

To ensure the safety of the workmen and the general public, the work will be carried out at night, and therefore the roads will be closed only at night whilst the works are being carried out. Local diversion routes will be in operation for through traffic. Local residents, businesses and emergency services will be able to gain access, but on street parking will not be possible in the areas affected.

The work will be carried out in two phases:
1: Sandbeds Road from Ashmore Lake Way to Haley Street
From Tuesday 7th November to Tuesday 14th November between 8pm and 6am

2: High Road from Haley Street to Bentley Lane
From Wednesday 15th November to Thursday 23rd November between 8pm and 6am

The above timescales will depend on favourable weather conditions, but it is anticipated that no work will need to be carried out at weekends.

Engineering and Transport Services are aiming to keep the noisier part of this work to the time before midnight, and say they will try to ‘ensure noise pollution is kept to a minimum’.

If you have any queries or anticipate problems caused by the works, please get in touch with us, and we will take these up with those involved.

Alternatively, the officer who provided this information has offered his contact details – Gary Chalk, 01922 654393 or Gary.chalk@walsall.gov.uk
Again, if he isn’t able to address your concerns, let us know, and we’ll pass on your concerns and comments.
