Response off the council re impact of resurfacing works at Short Heath

by Ian Shires on 2 November, 2017

Further to an e-mail I sent the other day expressing concern about the possible impact of resurfacing High Road and Sandbeds Road might have on the Remembrance Sunday Parade I have received the following reply.

“I can advise you that the carriageway resurfacing scheme is programmed to commence prior to the Remembrance Sunday parade.  However, the works have been planned such that all the roads in the vicinity of the cenotaph, and the approach roads used by the parade will remain as they are and will not be planed-up and resurfaced until after the event.  Additionally, the subcontractor responsible for the temporary traffic management has been asked to remove all temporary road signs from site on the Friday before the parade.

“Essentially, the work is being phased such that all roads affected by the parade will remain in their current condition until after the parade.  As a side note, due to the traffic sensitivity of this particular road all work is being carried out at night time.”
