Liberal DEMOCRAT Activist Learn more

Yesterday (Friday 03 November 2017) in the House of Commons, MPs debated giving 16 & 17 year olds the vote.
Votes at 16 already works in Scotland – and it’s led to incredible democratic engagement in elections and brought new enthusiasm into politics.
It’s an idea whose time has definitely come – and an issue that is, I know, dear to many of our hearts.
Unfortunately, the Conservatives don’t agree. They talked out the bill – preventing it coming to a vote.
This is incredibly disappointing – not least because they only did it because they knew they’d lose!
Our fight for votes at 16 won’t end here though. Change is coming.
