Work began this week on clearing the former Cavalcade pub site in preparation for development to start. Enquiries made by Willenhall Liberal Democrats have revealed that it would seem that the long standing issue between the developer and Severn Trent may now have been resolved.

Regular readers will know that Severn Trent have a major main crossing the site and required an easement to allow development to take place. This was the one obstacle to development starting as Walsall Council had granted planning permission for the development some time ago.  The resolution of the problem may require further consideration by Walsall Planners but at least activity has started to prepare and secure the site.

You Lib Dem Cllrs Dan Barker and Ian Shires will be asking Walsall Council planners to find out what needs to be done to allow work to start. “There is a need for housing in the area so the sooner we can resolve issues the better. In the meantime it’s good to see activity on the site” said Dan.

The Lib Dem Team are also pressing to get the issues around the Former Meadow House site opposite sorted.
