The other night, Cllr Dan Barker and myself attended a meeting of the West Locality Board. This is an important strategic body that is crucial to determining how council resources are allocated across the West locality which covers everywhere to the west of the M6 within the Borough of Walsall – including Willenhall, New Invention, Short Heath, Darlaston and Bentley.

Four Conservative councillors are members of this board – none of them attended and if I heard rightly only one of these passed on their apologies.

If that’s an indication of how much they care about working for the voters who elected them……………..
Let’s just say its something people should bear in mind when they turn up on your doorstep promising the Earth!

It’s not the first time they have missed important meetings, but it is perhaps the most blatant, not one of them bothered enough to show up. Perhaps that’s not surprising when only one of them lives in the area and two don’t even live in the Borough!

We all do what we do as Councillors for different reasons but we do receive a basic allowance which is paid for by the public purse so on those grounds alone it’s incumbent upon us that they should show up or at least give a reason for not doing so.
