Blocked drains Crab Lane Sneyd Lane Jnc

by Ian Shires on 17 January, 2020

This morning’s downpour caused flooding on the bend where Sneyd Lane becomes Crab Lane.  I reported it in and can confirm that a gully sucker has cleared the blocked drain which led to the flooding.

It’s not surprising that we are back to square one with this issue. Cut backs in resources to Clean and Green due to continuing austerity cuts to the Local Authority Support Grant by Central Government have created a catch 22 situation.

You can’t have failed to see the build up of leaves in the area since autumn. Because Clean and Green haven’t the resources to clean them up the leaves have been churned into a mush by traffic The resulting sludge has ended up in the drains at the bottom of the hill causing the flooding forcing traffic into the centre of the road at this dangerous bend.

This is not the only site where leaves left uncollected have ended up causing drainage problems. it’s a case of robbing Peter to pay Paul!
