Polls are open till 10pm

by Ian Shires on 6 May, 2021

Others in this election have had their photos taken outside The Hive, The Loft Youth Club, The Square, The Community Green at Forest Gate and Short Heath Park, the difference between them and myself is that as your Councillor over the years I have worked with this great community of ours to help create what we have today. Re-elect me today to ensure you have a Councillor who works with the community to get things done.

If you have not yet cast your vote take time out to watch this short video https://twitter.com/i/status/1389195025389690881

Don’t leave it for others, they might be leaving it to you.

  1. Ex Willenhall Boy says:

    Dear Mr. Shires,

I learnt yesterday of how your tenure as a representative of Willenhall North has come to an end.

Although I gave you absolute pelters for supporting a minority Conservative administration you answered the postings with good grace and you detailed your reasons to do this. Many local politicians don’t even give the platform to engage in this fashion.

I have come here today to pass this message as I can well imagine that the abrupt nature of how things change may leave you feeling upset, even betrayed or unvalued. These feelings would be natural and completely justified. Any feelings of being unvalued though are completely wrong.

Just thought important to know that even though I may have disagreed with certain “strategic Alignments” the service you gave to the ward is amazing. The sheer hard yards that you put in to engage with the population of an area which has grown massively in the time you have served it is unreal and has not only inspired me but also significantly influenced me and the way I carry out my work and voluntary activity.

Thank you so much for your service, and I hope that in the coming weeks that any disappointment becomes dwarfed by the pride and satisfaction that your service deserves.

    Many, many thanks.

Appreciate you taking time out to contact me and for your kind words. Since losing last week I have been overwhelmed by the number of people from all parts of the political spectrum and none who have contacted me, I have found it humbling and quite honestly at this point I can’t find words adequate enough to express my gratitude. Not sure what I am going to do next. I still have a list of things I wanted to achieve, we live in such a divided country and there is so much inequality. I need to find a role somewhere where I can influence a change.
      Kind regards
      Ian
