Some feedback from last week’s Site Visit to Cannock Rd

by Ian Shires on 4 February, 2015

150127 Cannock RdSunken gulley drains in Cannock Road between The Gate Island and Littleton Rd get a final inspection today to decide what action to take ahead of the work due to take place during the half – term break on the long awaited School Safety Zone outside the new Invention Infants and Junior Schools.

Today’s inspection is a direct result of the site visit to the area last Tuesday called for by Willenhall North’s Liberal Democrat councillor Ian Shires to view first hand the extent of the School Safety Zone proposals.

Those gully drains requiring to be re-set ahead of the other works will be marked up ready for the re-setting work to be done this coming weekend.

BT are also planning to do some work over the half – term break which begins Monday 16th February. Once the BT work has been completed work on the School Safety Zone scheme should be able to commence.

“Feedback from local residents following the recent consultation on the scheme has been very positive.” said Ian. “The School Safety Zone scheme is the culmination of a great deal of hard work by the Heads and staff along with Governors at both schools in putting together a Safer Routes to School Plan. This is something many parents have been asking for for a long time.”
