Check out our latest cohort of junior PCSOs… The 18-strong group of pupils from Woodlands Academy in #Willenhall are doing an amazing job and loving their new roles –

Junior PCSOs

The youngsters completed their training last November which consisted of five specialist sessions.

They’ve been trained to recognise traffic offences outside their school and in groups they patrol before or after their school day, supported by school staff or one of our PCSOs.

If they spot an offending vehicle, they approach the driver, point out the offence and then issue a specially designed ticket. They then ask the driver to move their vehicle from its ‘offending’ position.

After a junior PCSO issues two tickets to the same vehicle the third ticket will be a non-endorsable fixed penalty which will be issued by us.

With a number of patrols already under their belt, the fab year five pupils have already issued 19 tickets!

Well done to our wonderful new junior PCSOs, we’re so proud of your community spirit and determination to make your area a safer place. Thank you!

Recruiting junior PSCOs is a very good move. The next will be training similar persons to be police cadets who are serious about a regular professional police career
