Help Make Willenhall Even Safer

by Ian Shires on 19 February, 2021

I received the following appeal from West Midlands Police so thought I would share it with you…..

Good Evening Willenhall,

We are looking for active people in Willenhall who would like to be involved in a community led initiative called Street Watch.

Street Watch is about local residents carrying out walks and being a visible deterrent in their neighbourhoods helping to prevent crime and ASB. Whilst out and about you will get to know people and build up some community spirit in your neighbourhood.

All new members will receive a training video which ensures they know exactly what is expected of them. A minimum of two people are required for each walk but many people go out in larger groups.

Officers from the Willenhall policing team will join you on your first couple of walks and will keep in regular contact with a nominated coordinator.

Members need to be at least 18 years old and commit to just two hours a month, but can go out as often as they like.

Although StreetWatch patrols are currently not taking place due to lockdown, we want to take this time to recruit and train more members and create new schemes across Willenhall.

If you would like to know more or get involved in Street Watch you can reply to this message via WMNow or email: streetwatch@west-midlands.pnn.police.uk
