Have to say that I find the antics of Amber Rudd in trying to shift blame away from herself and her lack of rudimentary knowledge of her responsibilities onto her civil servants absolutely astonishing.

Having said that, she is not alone. It is not unfamiliar here in Walsall amongst Conservatives on the Council. Often, when challenged about decisions that were taken under their watch, the pat answer they generally trot out is “We didn’t agree with it either but we were told by the former Chief Executive that we had no say in the matter. It was an operational decision.”
