M6 junction 10 improvement scheme – advance work

I’m writing to let you know that we’ll be continuing drilling at M6 J10 to help us prepare for the main improvement work. This preparation work will involve the removal of some trees and shrubs and ground investigation work at the junction. Who will do this work? John Sisk and Son Ltd will carry out this work and the main improvement work on our behalf.

How will this affect you?

We’ll need to use some noisy equipment like chainsaws and I would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience or disruption you may experience during this work. We will make every effort to carefully manage noise levels to minimise the impact of our work. Thank you for your patience while we carry out this work. Please be assured that we’ll work hard to complete this work as quickly as possible, keeping disruption to a minimum.

How will it affect traffic?

The work will take place on Monday to Friday mostly during the day, but there may be occasions when we need to work overnight from 8pm to 6am. We will need to put some road closures in place to carry out this work, these are detailed in the below. The improvements to J10 of the M6 is outside of our area but many use it and will be affected by it. Whether we agree with it or not, the decision to go ahead has been made they say following consultation. Now it is important that the Highways Agency, West Midlands Combined Authority and Walsall’s Conservative Cabinet have to deliver it on time, on price and with the minimum of disruption. Only time will tell who was right or who was wrong about the design. In the meantime I will do my best to update you with progress and pass on any observations you may wish to share with me. Currently I am a member of the Economy and Environment Scrutiny and Overview Committee who will be monitoring the work and holding the Cabinet member to account. Feel free to message me on this.

Kind regards

Ian
