It may be the holiday season but the work of your Lib Dem Teams continues

by Ian Shires on 23 July, 2014

It may well be the start of the holiday season for many but for your Liberal Democrat Focus Teams across New Invention and Short Heath the work goes on.

The Teams advice surgeries continue in both areas and we continue to work on the many issues which concern you as local residents.

140125 School's Out 2Top of the list currently is a concerning increase in anti social behaviour with the onset of the school holidays. This is of great concern in itself as in the run up to the summer break most, if not all schools in the area were visited by the Anti Social Behaviour Roadshow. The Police,Walsall Housing Group and Walsall Council’s anti social behaviour teams interacted with pupils at primary and senior school levels. “Certainly there was a good realisation by children at the one I attended about the effect and consequences of unacceptable behaviour” said Lib Dem Cllr Ian Shires.

140511 Coltham RdOther issues being dealt with currently by the Teams include pot holes which, inspite of money coming in from Government, seem to be taking an age to get sorted. These include Wordsworth and Tennyson Roads, Coltham Road, Fletcher Road and Jones Road, Coppice Lane, Dovedale Avenue and Sandbeds Road to name but a few. We know that the council has checked on those we have reported in because of the white paint used to identify those in need of urgent repair.

As well as the pot holes there are a number of drains or gullies which are either loose or sunken like the one at the junction of Bloxwich Rd North and Coltham Road, and along Cannock Rd which are ether dangerousĀ  due to vehicles trying to avoid them or cause noise nuisance at all hours of the day and night for local residents.

HGVInspite of protests on behalf of residents and motorists alike we are still getting complaints about DX trucks travelling at high speed along our narrow and twisting roads as they wend their way to their Hub in Ashmore Lake Road. Further representations are being made to the company.

This has been a whistle stop tour around things which your Lib Dem Focus Teams are engaged in currently. It’s by no means covers all we are doing as issues like contaminated land, Meadow House and other empty property are ongoing.

If you live in the area andĀ have a problem or an issue you’d like to raise with us or might have an idea which could save the council and its tax payers money then go to the CONTACT button above and drop us a line.
