With parking at a premium at this popular local centre, the Willenhall North Lib Dem Focus Team is pressing Walsall Council to maximise parking availability.

Lib Dem councillor Ian Shires and local activist Carol Fletcher have contacted Walsall Council asking them to reinstate the parking space in the Long Stay Car Park which had been affected by Japanese knot weed.

Following demands by the Lib Dem Focus Team during the summer of 2014 for urgent action to be taken to halt the spread of this weed the council fenced off the affected area to allow special weed killer to be applied to kill off this fast spreading weed.

If action had not been taken, the knot weed would have quickly spread leading to the loss of half a dozen parking spaces along with damage to walls and concrete fencing in the area at the back of The Square.

More than one treatment had to be applied to the affected area, but it now looks as if the problem has been resolved. If this is the case then the temporary fencing should be removed to allow people access to the footpath again providing safer access to their cars and bringing back into use the affected parking area.
