There is some good news and some not so good news about the ongoing work being done in our area by Severn Trent.
Lets start with the good news. The work at Coltham Road/Wesley Road junction has been completed and the temporary traffic lights have been removed. A new concrete chamber has been installed further back from the line the traffic takes through the junction which we are told should prevent a reoccurrence of the collapse which has added to the congestion woes across the area.
The not so good news is that work will commence tomorrow to sort out the leak in Sandbeds Roads at its junction with Haley Street. We’ll give you some feedback on this one once they know just how serious it is. As it stands this evening there is a small hole with water coming out of it.
So traffic flow improves through Wesley Road, Coltham Road and Straight Road, and the congestion shifts to Sandbeds Road where it becomes High Road by the War Memorial.
The good news is that as there are still issues on the diversion route for work being done in Lucknow Road. As a result the temporary traffic lights will remain in place instead of there being a full road closure.
People have been asking about the damage being caused by contractor’s plant and rubble to the grass verges at the entrance to Farbrook Way. That’s the very question we have put to Walsall Council. Our view is that the grassed area should be renewed as its constant use in recent months as a building site has damaged it beyond repair.
