Progress Report on Nottingham Drive Shops

by Ian Shires on 20 November, 2015

150715 Nottingham DriveRegular readers will be aware that back in July the Lib Dem Focus Team renewed pressure on Walsall Council to resolve once and for all long standing problems surrounding the appalling state of the Notting Drive shops and the land surrounding them.

Further pressure was applied in August and by October it was beginning to look as if all this pressure was beginning to show some results.

Today, following a meeting with Council Officers, we can announce that a new line of enquiry has opened up which could clear up the issue of who is actually responsible for maintenance on the precinct. Those of you who have followed this saga will know that the Precinct is in private ownership, in fact it’s in two ownerships, one being the buildings the other being the land surrounding the shops.

Those who know me well know that I never promise anything unless I can deliver on that promise. What I can say is that things are looking much brighter for getting a solution to this issue than they did back in July. Will keep you updated on any further progress.
