Quick update on the article below. Walsall Council’s Clean and Green Team were out bright and early the day after we reported this problem in and have jetted the blocked gulley. That should see the end of the problem as they checked that it was running freely before leaving. Sorry to disappoint those who thought that New Invention was to benefit from new outdoor Lido 🙂

Calls for action on flooding at The Square, New Invention
Following complaints from businesses and shoppers I have reported the flooding issues at The Square.
All this rain over the past few days is causing real problems for pedestrians, motorists and businesses on The Square, Lichfield Road. The roadway through the shopping precinct is flooding. It’s not deep as such but at its worst it covers a large area.
It looks as if cleaning the weeds out of the gully behind where the cars park at the front of The Square has had something to do with the causing the flooding.
Like most problems it’s not simple. The roadway through The Square is not an adopted road, don’t ask me why that just complicates matters further, so getting the problem resolved will take a bit longer than normal.
We will be monitoring the situation and will chase up those responsible for clearing the blockage if things drag on.
